Our Campagnolo Pro Mechanics:
Campagnolo is designed to last, shift smoothly and compromise the finish on your road bike and be the envy of all club riders.

To keep your Campagnolo kit working as intended it needs looking after, cleaning, inspecting and servicing at regular intervals.

Have you ever wondered when you should inspect and grease your Ultratorque/Powertorque bottom bracket, replace your chain or when to replace gear cables?

power-torque bottom bracket
Lack of any type of service or maintenance

This power-torque bottom bracket has not been inspected for over 6,000 miles and the rider knew it was worn 500 miles ago. The bearing had collapsed and worn a groove in the axle

Modern bikes and components use different types of materials, made for lightness and styling. Good mechanical knowledge with  product knowledge is required to work on modern bikes.

The service should be determined by the operating environment (e.g. the effect of temperature, corrosion, weathering, jet washing) When last serviced or mileage done.

Campagnolo has a recommended maintenance interval table for all their products. The operation required, at distance or time (Whichever comes first) type of use and who should carry out the operation.

Maintenance by a qualified Campagnolo Pro bicycle mechanic using Campagnolo parts, recommended grease/lubricants and specialist tooling will help keep your bike running smoothly.
If you are unsure when your Campagnolo components need inspecting. Ask your Campagnolo mechanic or view the maintenance interval table below:

1. Buying used parts on ebay
When looking for a bargain, it is likely these days that you will turn to eBay for used parts. While there are bargains to be had, when buying a second-hand parts, you need to be careful, because you may have a large repair bill to go with the bargain price. Even if the person is not intending to be dishonest, their idea of the perfect condition may mean clean but worn out. We see our repairers that have given out bills of well over £100 to make a wheel usable, even though they were described "good as new".

There are a few things you should do when considering buying on eBay:

1) Never pay cash - always use one of the schemes that give you protection.

When buying wheels:

2) Always collect in person - do not have it posted to you, and do not meet in some car park halfway.

3) Always spin the wheels and feel the hubs for play and smoothness. That the wheel rims are not worn, damaged and that the wheels are not buckled!

5. Campagnolo chorus 11 speed cassette spacer (2012)
If you are experiencing any poor performance with gear shifting, you will need to remove your Campagnolo cassette and check the spacer between sprockets 6 and 7 to see if it is broken. It will be unusable and need replacing with the correct one. The plastic spacer is different looking than the other 3 or 4 black round spacers, it has 4 lugs on the back of the spacer.

Where to buy one from! It should be under warranty, so first talk with the shop or online shop where you bought your cassette. You will need proof of purchase.

Campagnolo Frequently Asked Questions

I don't ride on these wheels myself, but I do service them frequently. From a mechanics point of view, they are a pleasure to work on and are well built.

When upgrading wheels on your bike, the best way to gauge what to spend, is 30% of the total value of your bike. Most new bikes you buy are fitted with wheels to the value of 10% and are not up to the job, and would soon need to be upgraded!
