2012 Pedal for Scotland
Over 7,500 challenge and over 800 sportive riders took part in the Fresh n Lo 2012 Pedal for Scotland event. The event, now in its 14th year, is organised by Cycling Scotland to encourage people to make everyday journeys by bike.
Cycle Tech Glasgow provided mobile support for the sportive event repairing punctures, chains and truing the odd wheel affected by some road surfaces.
The route took riders 110 miles and 2,400 metres of ascent over an undulating route from Glasgow Green to Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh. Passing through 7 local authorities and incorporating the best sections of numerous Scottish cycle racing circuits, including the A77 10 Mile Time Trial, sections of the Moscow APR and the Strathaven Anderside Classic, with steeps climbs around Muirkirk and undulating stretches across wild moorland . Challenged by a steady headwind near Douglas but later chased by darkening skies promising rain from the West, most riders did make it to the finish dry.
